And so it begins… Sort of… Again… Hoping to turn these into a working CNC engraver… and then who knows. Some of these are swiss made for medical use not sure if they will be robust enough but Im sure I will find out. Much to learn still. Reading the Build your own CNC book, but it looks a bit clunky. Thanks for adding me to the group. Cheers Alex.

Thanks Fritz. Seems the hardest part is decide exactly where to start… Flood of info on the web… But perhaps I just havnt found quit the complete primer yet lol

My guess would be that your first step is, what are you going to drive them with? A lot of potential there I think…

I’ve heard that you have to be careful with steppers that were used for medical purposes. Something about radiation killing them if they were used for that kind of a thing.

I think at a certain point, you have to say “ah shit! I will just do this (insert random thing here)!”. Otherwise, doubting yourself and being indecisive will lead you to doing absolutely nothing.

Some of those steppers look like sonceboz steppers… Those are nice.

The 6 red ones are Sonceboz yes. Apprently they have built in drivers and microstepping. Cant find docs on tje exact models though.

@NathanielStenzel hahaha i hear you in that one hehe

@Paul_Frederick soo THAT’S why they glow in the dark!

@Mat_Helm some have built in drivers appatently. I have a board that was meant for home automation that I hope may work. Docs on the board however is a difrent story :frowning:

@Alex_Olivier
I think that is why they lose their magnetism actually.
