Another interesting project with ESP8266. Magicpixel is a little controller that allows you to easily control your W2812b RGB LED strips. Make your house or Christmas tree something special one. Decorate your windows, house or gardens and control it from your smatphone or Raspberry Pi. Check the project now LIVE on Kickstarter http://kck.st/2gHc6wZ

Is this your project? Does this project use FastLED? I’ll pardon the shameless promotion, but I’m totally stealing this idea.

@Jason_Coon do you have a source for those PCBs?

Not yet, but hope to soon.

Okey dokey… if this year’s second try at having my LED strips survive Manitoba winter conditions doesn’t work, I too may steal the Christmas ball idea. Except I would wire all the LEDs in each ball as one, instead of as a series or maybe all the mini-strips in the ball as one strip… that way if one LED fails the rest of the ball is fine. But could still do patterns by treating each ball as a pixel.

Will now devote space on the mental back-burner to come up with a cheap, transparent, weatherproof (yet accessible) globular container.

Its not using FastLED. But support E1.31 protocol to control led strips through Wifi.

@Jason_Coon do you need some made?

@Chris_Rees I was thinking about designing and ordering something similar. Why, do you already have some?

@Jason_Coon I don’t But thinking of making some too
