Another newb question. If I’ve been modelling something in Wings3D (the excellent version from ggaliens) is it possible to map certain parts to the fill type needed? E.g. 100% fill where bolts are needed, 50% elsewhere? Either by mapping colour or some other attribute that Slic3r will understand? I’ve done some Google searches and I’m not finding what I’m after.

Slic3r supports modifier meshs - basically, you create a second, intersecting part and Slic3r will let you modify a bunch of slicing parameters for the area where the two parts intersect.

The short answer, not to my knowledge.

A possible work around, could be to design a small mesh support inside the area you want solid infill. Use the silc3r setting that dictates what happens to areas under a certain “x” mm^2. “Solid infill threshold area” I believe is what it’s called.

It’s not the greatest solution in the world but it will get you to a place close to where you want to be.

Hope this is somewhat helpful.

Thanks guys, I’ll give those ideas a try.

The second of the two options is probably the one I’ll run with as I don’t have to mess around with object positioning in Slic3r and all of the data is kept in the one STL file.
