Any advice on printing parts in TPU which require support material?

Any advice on printing parts in TPU which require support material? Such as over hange threshold or contact Z distance for supports?

so far i avoided complex parts for TPU, mainly because of 50cm bowden

but i recon even faster move speed (4x-8x of printing) and 0.1-0.2 on top of existing support clearance.

i would set overhangs to 30%.

i have an order for what looks like motor mounts and theyre very organic shapes, but slic3r seems to have overhangs backwards lol

i was also interested in motor mounts from TPU, but never got to it… mainly because of slow print speeds.
post results if you can…

I would honestly tell the customer what to expect with overhangs and TPU and let them know you can print it but would recommend a redesign. That being said I’ve gotten good results with the standard Slic3r PE settings for Semiflex but using Cheetah. Cheetah is really the only TPU that you can use itself for supports and not spend hours on cleanup. I think this is due to the coating on the filament.

Sadly i dont have any cheetah lol

It’s the only flexible filament I use anymore. It prints at normal print speeds (60+ mm/s) and is so much easier to print.

After experiencing underextrusion i dropped speed from 40 to 30 lol

i ran it 20-30mm/s, with moves 160-200… no retraction and move acc as high as motion allows.

Yeah i disabled retraction too. I enabled cooling and im running a test print for overhangs (fingers crossed)

bed adhesion was more problematic for me…
if bit too high, it won’t stick to glass.
bit too low and it’s vulcanized to it.
already broken one to get it off,
same on kapton… it was tearing between layers.

No issues on PEI yet thankfully. It does stick like crazy thou

TPU actually performs well with S3D supports.

My print bed died lol

Any tips on the overhangs?
