Any idea why I'm losing registration between operations. Sometimes, sometimes not.

Brian: IIRC, I flattened (filed) two sides of an M6 socket head screw, then drilled a hole. Those are SS split rings from my fishing tackle box, small but tough.
As you probably notice, a key to this working is looping the belts back on themselves so the teeth interlock, held in place with the small tywraps. Mine are MXL belts, GTX should work too

Play in your lead screw, Ioose bearing support or collars. My guess.

Thanks again Carl.

Steven - also check to make sure a pulley hasn’t loosened off one of the motor shafts. That happened to me so I replaced the little set screws with some socket head screws and locked them in place with a dab of CA.

After a long conversation through Facetime last night with a veteran cutter I’ve learned that I should cut in one pass rather than 6 passes going deeper each time. He said to go faster too and this went against everything I’ve been doing. I tried it on a piece of .062 G10 and it cut fine I was amazed! Tried it on some 2mm CF today and it cut a little wonky. I think I need to tighten and square every wheel and bolt to eliminate any possible slop or flex in my machine to achieve more perfect cuts mowing through CF on one pass. I do use the T-nuts and a set screw to hold my belts and that how I tighten them but how tight? I believe you’re supposed to tighten the belt by lifting the motor and tightening it down but you can’t access the bolts. Thanks for the ideas guys, I’ll get this figured out sooner or later.
