Any ideas how I can perfect this small gear to get better definition? Printing PLA with fans 200 layer height/220 temp (have to go high as my stepper clicks and struggles to extrude)/ bed at 60. 0.4mm nozzle on a mk8 extruder.
Incase you can’t see one side of the gears have perfect definition on the other they are more rounded
Yeah agree with the others. I have a .35 J-Head and when I print small herringbone Wade gears I make about five at a time. Two will blob and fail and the other three are as perfect as I can get them.
Try acctually increasing your layer height. It may seem counter intuitive but it’ll decrease the width of the extrusion effectively increasing your xy resolution.
You can also directly change this setting in Slic3r in the advanced if you are using that.
+1 on @Griffin_Paquette ‘s suggestion. I had printed a bunch of key chains for kids’ school a while back and the ticket for the small detail was to let the layer get a chance to cool by letting the head move on to the next object. I think I also recall messing around with a layer delay in one of the slicers where the head lifts and pauses for a bit before moving on to the next layer.
How did your set of fours turn out i apologize for not introducing my self, but i am irrelevant. None the less the conversation and feed back was amazing. Just wondering Sorry if i offended @Rob_Ayers
