Any recommendations for cheap or free Mac software that would allow me to create simple 3D (stl) files that I can print out with my new Zeus?
SketchUp probably has the lowest learning curve and widest free training material.
Works great on the Mac.
I use it for nearly everything. Once you have worked out its foibles related to circles, you are laughing.
You can get plugins for g-code, slicing, STL, DXF, etc.so you can do a lot with it.
A lot of CAD users poo-poo it, but for a designer it’s accurate, fast and easy to use.
http://www.123dapp.com/create Autodesk has a plethora of good free stuff
Thanks for the all the suggestions!
Cheetah3D might be worth your time
Auto desk fusion 360 is free for makers and, I think, best in class.
I’ve had it installed for about a year and never used it. I guess I should give it a go.
