Any recommendations for very opaque black PLA filament? I have some black, but it’s translucent to bright light until at least 2mm thick. I’d like to have it opaque at about half that if possible.
Shiny or matte finish?
Matte would be ideal, but opacity is more important.
German Reprap do some very black PLA but it does have a shine. Someone printed one of my scarab beetle boxes using carbon fiber PLA from Proto pasta. That is reasonably matte - here is a picture:
ultimachine black is black. THe Black from Pushplastic is black and pretty matte.
I’m interested in this translucent black - I’ve never seen one:-) Or a black with a silver metallic shine - that would be awesome:-)
The brand is DeltaMaker. It’s probably not translucent enough to be usefully translucent unless printed super thin; it’s just not quite opaque enough when you’re printing something intended to be a mask for a bright light.
Faberdashery has both. Classic Black & Smokey Black.
The Faberdashery Classic Black is very opaque, not only to visible light but also IR (I need that property). The top layer has a very matte finish.
