Any reco’s on low priced strips on amazon/ebay?
For low priced leds I skip ebay/amazon and go closer to the source(s) - http://aliexpress.com - most often I just go right to Ray Wu’s store there - http://www.aliexpress.com/store/701799
I too recommend Ray Wu. I’ve used him a few times now without any problems and have saved a small fortune along the way.

Are there strips I should avoid with FastLED?
Actually these days I would recommend apa102 over ws2812b - higher refresh rate, faster data rate, etc…
But yeah, apa102, ws2812b, lpd8806 are decent choices.
Hl1606 and LPD6803 are completely unsupported, but hopefully no one is selling them anymore!

If your ordering a few different items from Ray, make a excel spreadsheet with quantities, links, pictures, etc. and email it to him directly. He’ll send you an invoice with a combined shipping quote that will save you a ton. He’ll accept PayPal as well. @Josh_I
