Anybody know where I can get the short y axis belt for a davinci 1.0? That is making my prints horrible. Circles are ovals
They’re ovals because your belts are not aligned. Push the gantry all the way to one side and check that they’re parallel.
Done that. I can physically see that the small belt “lags” while printing. The motor moves but the belt is too loose to move right away. Circles were ok before
Did you adjust the belt tensioner?
Yes. It is as tight as it goes. This printer has over 1500 hour on it… It’s time to be replaced
Have you tried calling the Davinci 1.0 manufacturer/seller ?
Or
Why not just purchase any belt, the right size for your printer, and cut to fit?
How would I fuse the ends together? It has to be a loop
There are belt clamps you can purchase that will hold a belt together at the ends. They can also be tightened for tension.
Surely there is a section or place of the belt that does not get fed through the motors ? A point in which a connection can be that wouldnt get in the way?
Ps.
I Did not think a printer would have a closed loop belt. After reviewing the Da Vinci 1.0 online, I see what your problem is…
I have a printrbot. So it doesn’t use closed loop belts. It uses belts, but they are attached to clamps on each end of the machine, with stops in place so the axis only go so far while printing.
They offer everything BUT replacement belts on their website…
No dice on Amazon.
They have a contact us area on the xyzprinting site though. Shoot them an email!
I’ll try an email. I have called them before and although it’s in America you can’t understand a single thing. I wouldn’t trust giving them my cc number over the phone if I needed to pay for the belt
Here’s a belt tensioner that may help. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:981670 it uses an cable tie to tension the belt so once on is solid. If it’s a closed loop belt the length of the gantry this should work. If it’s a short closed loop belt that transfers between a motor and shaft that moves multiple rotations it won’t work.
SDP/SI might have the exact belt needed. Is there any printing on the belt? It can help ID the exact type by number of teeth, etc.
I tried looking and I don’t see any marks
Then you’ll need to count the teeth and figure out if it’s T2 or T2.5 that’s the distance in mm between teeth.
