Anyone else notice makerbot’s change in advertising strategy, slogan is something along the lines of focus on your cad designs not your printer. Its a clever angle exept for the small matter of it not having the reputation as the most reliable machine you can get.
Forget most reliable. Just reliable period. Honestly I was so inspired by makerbot a couple years ago and was dying to buy one. Now I wouldn’t even think of using one.
You’re going to see all the larger manufacturers start focusing on ease of use and minimizing calibration and fussing with the machine. In the case of Makerbot I’d reckon in the next year or so they’ll be a memory in the consumer space and focused primarily on education and low end pro markets. Something to remember about the lawsuit is it’s not to make the users whole. It’s to cover investor losses because of bad product they allegedly kept a lid on from investors. It will settle. Investors will get some money, lawyers will get some money. Unfortunately the users that bought the funky machines will end up with nothing but the funky machines.
