Anyone else noticed that PLA gets brittle after a while? I had a reel of JET PLA from Amazon. It started breaking, and turning white (it is translucent red) along the inner radius. I suspect it has to do with taking up water. I put it in the oven at 170 F for 20 minutes. Seems to be better, and is printing now
I had that problem, but that was more to do with the way it had been spooled onto the reel. They had pulled it too tight at the start of the reel and was bent across itself, meaning it was bending and making it weak.
Yes! I’m having a brittleness (not whitening) problem, too. I just moved to a different spooling system to reduce stress on the filament while printing, but I will try baking it as well.
Looks like your filament starts degrading (decomposing) - Storage problem
