Anyone ever experimented with carbon fiber rods instead of precision ground rods?

Anyone ever experimented with carbon fiber rods instead of precision ground rods? I’m thinking an arrow should be cheap enough and readily available…

Yes I did. It made for a very light x axis, but the bearings wore grooves in them eventually.

I’d also imagine they’d be stiff in one direction and wobbly in the other.

My printer uses tent rods. That I bought in garage sale for 3$.

I used ceramic coated aluminum rods from pbc linear. Light. Stiff. Hard surface. I would recommend them. They do cost more… But they are easy to cut.
