Anyone have any tips for soldering strips close together at a 90 degree angle.

Anyone have any tips for soldering strips close together at a 90 degree angle. I’m needing to make a small square with 6 LEDs on each side and planning on using a strip of SK6812 mini which is already challenging for me to solder with how small and close together the solder pads are.

If the solder tabs on the strips have holes in, use fine single strand wire. Push it through the holes (leaving long tails) then solder, then trim the tails. Insulate as necessary with tape or silicone sealant as appropriate or necessary…

You can use the tails off resistors if you don’t have any suitable wire

Ray has 4pin versions too.

I use 30 AWG silicon wires for work like this. They don’t melt so you can cut them very precisely and they won’t warp. Careful with the SK6812 mini, they are more fragile to soldering and I’ve blown a few while making tight turns on a very compact project. My advice is to test your strip at every turn to avoid bad news when your square is complete. Good luck!!

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I will be starting on this project tonight and will probably start with using the tails from resistors since they will hold the angle I need.
