Anyone here use a fruit dehydrator to dry filament? I’ve been toying with the idea on and off but the robotics team I mentor with has a Mark Forged Mark One and their nylon has some humidity issues, so I figured I’d get one to share with my team.
I just put my nylon in a box with a regenerizable dehumidifier. Works just fine.
I got one of these awhile ago, but haven’t found the time to do anything with it as of yet… http://www.printdry.com/ buts its basically the same thing. I also have used a home depot bucket a lightbulb and a lid to dry a spool as well (that also has risks as I melted a spool too!

I noticed the similarity of the recent Kickstarter for the printdry device and a food dehydrator. It appears from the Thingiverse post that they had the idea first and printdry might have turned it into a money maker. The dehydrators are available many places, but the replacement for the low profile trays isn’t so apparent. I’d expect that many household containers would work, but one like to go with that which another has discovered previously. A hundred US dollars for the PrintDry, a bit less for the Kickstarter version of the same name and manufacturer and under US$50 for a generic food dehydrator. That’s not a difficult decision if one can source the higher profile cap for the filament.
I put an inverted 5g bucket over my fruit dehydrator - I can dry 5 spools at a time
i get one about 5 ~6 weeks agow from ALDI it was on sale for 20$
works OK
