Anyone know a good software alternative for slicing for the 3dTouch from Bits from bytes?
It comes bundled with Axon, with which I am having several issues, such as not being able to configure a multi-material print.
I’ve also tried out the KISSlicer, but results are not yet satisfactory, see image of Cute octo printout =D
From the photo seems something related to hardware like slippage of belts or motors loosing steps. I use kisslicer and it is very very good. In order to check if the defect is related to gcode you can check the paths directly from kisslicer interface or in website http://gcode.ws If the gcode is fine probably there are something other in the “chain” from gcode to print. Try to double check the machine
hope that helps.
I think I found the issue, probably printspeed related. Still havent found a good way to do multinozzle prints though
Good! For multinozzle you mean extruders and nozzle with different colors/materials or multinozzle for printing pattern of pieces in one time like the photo?
Multinozzle for using different colours/materials in one model. Ive tried using Axon2 but it doesnt generate a proper printfile, and Axon 3 crashes while slicing
That is multiple extruders
Me too, I have double extruder on my BadPrinter2. Kisslicer at the moment only manage the second extruder for support material and not as double color. Another good option is Slic3r. It allows to merge stl files into a single .amf file that is sliced and printed with multinozzle
Mechanical issues are definitely a good place to start but I’ve I had similar problems due to low voltage on the 12v rail of my power supply when extruding (it dropped to 10.something v). I added a dummy load to the 5v rail and it seems to have sorted itself out.
@Steve_Lynch I was interested to read your comment. In my job I have recently “inherited” a 3d Touch printer and have been getting a similar problem to the one pictured above. Part way through a build the printing will shift forward or back and offset the subsequent layers. I have tried different software versions of Axon, checked the mechanicals of the machine, lubricated moving parts etc, all to no avail. Does this sound like the problem you were having, and if so are you able to give me more detail as to how you checked for and solved the issue?
I used a multimeter to measure the 12v rail on the PSU (it was a standard PC PSU). I can’t remember where I read about adding a 5v load if the 12v supply wasn’t close to what it should be but to test I just plugged an old hard drive into the PSU and that seemed to solve the problem.
