Anyone know any functional 3d printers that cost 300 - 500 dollars.
Look at alie express. You can get there a machine for even under $200. You probably need to assemble it and wait a long time for it to arrive from china.
I am very, very satisfied with mine.
Try this link, not sure on what you actually get though

I just bought a monoprice MP Mini on http://jet.com for $170 shipped.
Tiko3d.com : they just started shipping to kickstarter backers and are looking pretty damn good for $180

@Jared_Eldredge
nope, they didn’t. I backed this project and they didn’t say anything about shipping yet.
EDIT: in the last update (June) they said, they were a week away from starting shipments, but since then they never confirmed, that they actually started shipping.
Printrbot Play definitely
Printrbot or Wanhao i3. Stay away from kits on Aliexpress, eBay or Amazon.
Get the printrbot. With all of the cheap kits you need to sacrifice something to get them cheap. The printrbot sacrifices build volume. Others sacrifice mechanical strength, automatic bed trimming, electronic quality, stepper quality, or hot end quality.
Sacrificing print volume has a predictable and known impact on what can be printed. The others corners that people cut have less predictable impacts. Things like frame wobble harming print quality, or heat creep causing jams, or steppers not having enough torque to print consistently, or the electronics not being properly heart synced causing early failure.
Actually, if you’re willing to tinker, source your own parts and have someone who can print off the plastic parts, my FB2020 CoreXY design comes into that bracket as well. The design is a workhorse, between the 2 I have built they’re around 10,000 hours run with no major issues. https://github.com/AxMod3DPrint/FB2020
@Ax_Smith-Laffin wow!
Printrbot Printrbot Printrbot. Made in USA quality and seriously good bang for the buck. The Play is an awesome first printer and there is a great community here that can help you through any problems you might have with it. Don’t go with a cheap printer. Pay a little more and get somejting that uses serious quality components.

I have their ThreeUp printer, it works pretty well. I havn’t had much expirience with 3D printers but I can recommend this as a good Entry Level printer
