Anyone know the name of this model or have a link for it? I would call it “decimated tree with overhangs”. It’s from the infinity systems soluble support video, so also entirely possibly that it’s a proprietary model. But I think it’d be cool to print.
That would be a fun print. It would not be too hard to model a similar tree from scratch…
Want to give it a shot? I want to try PLA + PVA thru my new Y splitter, and this would certainly a way to dive right in.
I’d be happy to. I’m stacked up with several engineering projects at the moment but I might be able to find some time around the middle of next week if you can wait that long. It would actually fit right in with my projects. I’m also planning on testing out some PLA/PVA dual prints this coming week. This would be a good print to test it out on once I get things calibrated.
That would be great. Per my other post I have to fix the bed on this machine (and it needs a dump bucket installed for the purge sequence) and this is between multiple other machines being worked on , R&D for PCB design, etc…
Anyways, here’s where I found it, the How to Remove supports video: https://www.3dsystems.com/shop/cartridges/infinity
It’s a divi-divi-tree (no joke) they grow on the Dutch lower-wind-iles in the caribean. These are located just above Venezuela and named Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. This tree is shaped as it is because the wind is always coming from the same direction. A real tree in this shape would be about 4 meters high. The fact that it was able to get this old is from the fact it started of headwinds. Which prevented it from tipping over. So far for the geologie-lesson, but at first glance I thought it was a misprint
@raykholo Finally had a few minutes to throw a simple Divi Divi Tree together for you. It’s only a rough approximation of the one used for inspiration but it looks pretty good. Is there a place I can send the STL to you for a test print?
Supports everywhere at 15 degrees from vertical and a density of 40% should give a pretty good soluble support base without being completely solid.
@Jeff_Parish sent you a hangouts message
Ok, Why can’t i find hangouts in the new google???
Try going to gmail and looking in the left bar? I have the old Gmail UI.
