Anyone know what would cause pimples in my prints? Or will my printer start getting hair in weird places?
As a printer grows up, it starts to experience many changes…
But really what’s going on is I would guess those are layer change points, so your printer pauses there for a second to retract, change z-height, then move on. That can leave a small bump that little extra bits of plastic will stick to on subsequent moves over the same space leaving you with those whiskery bits.
You can try disabling retract on layer change, turning the temperature down a little, or increasing z-transition speed a bit.
And if none of that helps… then my guess about what’s going on is probably wrong.
Going to give those a try. Thank you.
Sounds like overheating.
maybe it would help to go down a little with the temp… doenst look like a retract problem…
There is some work on the Marlin code around a setting called LIN_ADVANCE, which tries to optimize the printing process to avoid these issues. This feature is available in the latest release and it is still experimental but shows promising results. Check out the github pages for more details.
When it starts to give you sass, that’s when it’s time to introduce them to the firm hand.
@Stephen_Baird @James_Miller @3dndrone @Stefan_Scherbik toil the heat down and raised a firm hand! Problem solved! Thank you all.
