Anyone use a davinci 2.0 out there?

Anyone use a davinci 2.0 out there? I have a 1.0 that I have made into a workhorse with over 2000 hours on it and is flashed with repetier. Just bought the dual extruder version and hoping to do the same. Here comes printer #4!

I’ve got one. I thought it was cool before I flashed it.
Now it’s better not having to use their overpriced filament, and better software.

@james_pond how well does the dual extrusion work? Have you used PVA or wash away support material?

@Abc_Def pretty much the same as stock, you have to mess around with settings a little bit, but I downloaded a config file that was ready to go.
Since you’re already using Repetier, you’re not going to see anything dramatically different, minus having an extra extruder.

I’m running ABS with some painters tape and Elmer’s purple glue sticks, after scraping off bed coating(not because I thought it was better that way, I didn’t realize there was a coating on the glass)

It doesn’t work as well with bigger prints, but I’m going to try the acetone slurry method, and see if it works better.

I’m looking into using different plastics for a few projects I have coming up.

Does the dual extrusion have any flaws? As in not level extruders or not lining up with different colors etc @james_pond

@Abc_Def not really. But then, I always make sure everything is ready before I do a run. Since flashing, I’ve only had to make some minor adjustments during the initial setup. Mainly squaring up the bed with the extruder, but that might be because I took the coating off.

Ah. One tip for printing pla is put some olive oil on a paper towel and rub it on the outside of the filament roll. That way the oil lines the extruder enough that it doesn’t stick on the inside and jam. It’s worked amazing for me so far on my 1.0

Don’t buy it as it is hard to use. If you can manually calibrate, and do everything by yourself, then buy it.

I agree with everyone else. Don’t buy it. I have one and it is sitting on my floor waiting to be gutted for parts. Custom extruder, poorly designed for maintenance, proprietary filament, board crashes (literally reboots) if the model is ‘too complicated’, X tensioner needed that fails repeatedly. Oh and the proprietary filament is not so great and overpriced.

@Samer_Najia that’s what I thought about my 1.0 and then everything changed when I flashed it with repetier
