Anyone using Marlin Firmware.
I’ve had good prints with the LIN_Advance enabled.
It’s an algorithm that will control the pressure in the hotend, similar to what coasting does in Simplify3D.
The first photo is without LIN_Advance, the nice ones is with LIN_Advance enabled
Your print without lin_advance looks horrible, do you know why it’s so bad?
Z speed. I adjusted it as well.
Also a tad high on the Z.
Maybe a better photo would be a side view without LIN_ADVANCE
I wanted to show the bulging Corners.
Z speed?
I mean, why do you have such bulging corners in the first place? I’ve almost never seen it this bad.
What’s your jerk setting?
XY and Z is on 10, and Extruder is on 5
Is your filament moist? Is your extrusion multiplier too high? Is there wiggle in your effector? I think any effector wiggle is less likely to cause the exact effects that you have.
It’s PLA, I don’t think it can absorb too much humidity in my country.
I will try a fresh roll to test.
Extruder multiplier is low. You’ll see under extrusion on the top layers.
My surprise was that all that disappeared with LIN_ADVANCE Enabled.
It could be due to the pressure buildup due to my very long Bowden tube.
@Panayiotis_Savva it slows around the corners, huh?
What speed is this? I am sure that printing slower will reduce the problem too, since there will be more time for the filament to melt and pass through the nozzle. A slightly higher temperature may help too, but too high causes its own problems. If you have a partial nozzle clog, that will make the problem worse. All of my experience so far has been with ABS which I imagine is more difficult to smoothly extrude than PLA.
@NathanielStenzel , this is printed at 75mm/s.
I’m sure slower will be better, but that defeats the objective.
It’s the 20mm solid cube with 0% infill and 2 walls, 3 top and bottom layers, sliced with Cura.
just curious, have you tried the lin advance on complex models. it seems it brings the processor to its knees on a ramps board.
I’ll do an advanced print and post it up later.
Interesting - how would you compare the performance of LIN_Advance with S3D’s coast?
@Fred_Hamilton , I’ve used Cura’s coast function and there is no comparison.
The firmware has outperformed CURA in a big way.
I unfortunately don’t have S3D and cannot comment on how well they do it.
If your running Marlin, go ahead and try this on the latest RCBugFix branch.
