Apperently, our new Cura 2.1 beta is a bit harder to find then you

Yeah, often times uBlock origin, or uMatrix breaks that page for me. I ran into problems downloading Cura myself a while back. :[

@ThantiK we are aware of the problems, but getting the proper people to fix it seems hard… (way out of my hands)
Note, again, proper 2.1 download link without hassle is at http://software.ultimaker.com/Cura_open_beta/

@Daid_Braam I get your point, I didnt realize repetier was not open source. Anyway, i look forward to trying out the new version of Cura…

@Daid_Braam Looks good. I like the minimal interface option. You guys have done a good job with it. As UM moves away from supporting general, generic printers easily out of the box (unless it’s got a json config included or a user does it) I expect more to adopt either an Octoprint or Repetier model of using the engine with another host. I understand the approach and I think it’s working well for UM. It adds a lot of value to buying a UM printer. For the rest of us, though, I think Octoprint with the engine is a better option.

That said, I think it’s duplicitous for you to call the Repetier bunch “leeches” when what they have done is in compliance with the license. You guys chose the license, it’s poor form to complain if someone with a model you don’t like uses the program in a way that is compliant with the license.

@dstevens_lv if they where violating the license, I would call them on that. I am fine with it. But I still call them leeches. After all, they live up to the letter of the license, but not really the spirit. And thus, I simply label them leeches.

Adding custom printers is currently a bit of a hassle. But we do want to get as many “stock” profiles in there as possible. So if people can contribute on that area, it would be really helpful. The “out of beta” fase happens in a few weeks I think. So it would be good to get as many machine json files to the team before then.

Quick question for you, Daid. How would you set 2.1.0 to be used for a delta/circular printbed printer? Just put it in the center?

@Blake_Nolastname see https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/537

Thank you, I put the Rostock Mini’s JSON in the folder after tweaking dimensions in order to fit my printer (210mm bed, 200mm height), but now it’s not showing up in Cura.
