@Dani_Epstein not yet. But one can be made. The new plugin system is way more advanced. Guys from http://www.doodle3d.com/ already made a plugin to communicate with their hardware.
File “/opt/cura/bin/cura_app.py”, line 19, in
import Arcus
RuntimeError: the sip module implements API v11.0 to v11.1 but the Arcus module requires API v11.2
@Daid_Braam I dont know if I would use the term leeching when describing repetiers interface into Cura. (Assuming you were notified of the planned integration). I am sure the Amount of cura users grew due to the fact thats its a few clicks in repetier host to use it, and for noobs (like myself) makes it very easy to get started with it.
The 3d printing community grows greatly because of all the help from everyone, especially the free tools for slicing, modding, and printing out there…
@PrintinAddiction if you are a software engineer, and use my application without giving anything back, you are leeching. I was notified. That’s not the point. The point is, you put in no effort towards me, I put in no effort towards you.
@Jules_Hoehn there is an issue outstanding for delta printers. See the github Ultimaker/Cura issue tracker.
@Sven_Bolz Yes. But we do not know when. Support generation is much improved in this version tough.
@Dani_Epstein You could ask on the github Ultimaker/Cura issue tracker for your linux issue, the current team mostly uses Linux. For plugins, there is some documentation, but it’s quite incomplete. We’re also planning to rework the “printer connection” implementation for 2.2, as the current (internal) API for this gives some problems. So the Octoprint plugin might better wait till that is done? Else, the Doodle3D plugin should serve as a good start point.
@Daid_Braam Wow, ok, obviously a sore spot, my bad. Actually, I am a software engineer, so I somewhat understand what you are saying, but what exactly were you looking for…Repetier Host is free, and only recently started asking for donations. They have hooks into your engine, would you have rather they left you out and only offered Slicr support out of the box?
@PrintinAddiction Repetier used to be open-source. It now no longer is. It’s not sore spot, it’s just what it is. There are a bunch of leeches of the CuraEngine. They are free to do so. But they shouldn’t expect a thank-you note.
Octoprint is a different story. It has it’s roots in Cura. And Gina did a great job on it. I know it currently can be used with older versions of the CuraEngine to slice on the printer. Which is pretty awesome, and one of the intended goals of having the CuraEngine as a separate project.
@Nathan_Walkner Correct, but they have been doing that on their download page for a while, it was just this week that OctoPrint starting asking for donations to help cover the cost of continued development, which was the one I was thinking of in my post, and just wanted to clarify.
All three products are great and I use all of them…
