Argh another problem with upgrading @Printrbot

Because I’m working with the original motors, the body isn’t long enough to touch the limit switch! I found out the hard way, grinding y axis, quick yank plugs style.

I’ll kludge up something then design and print an adapter.

What are you upgrading from? I have a friend who has a kickstarter original and wants to upgrade to a laser cut version.

Been thru two upgrades so far, this is third upgrade of printrbot simple BETA.

The new extruders are nice. GT2 belt drive is also nice. Not sure if those are available to the original version but I bet there is a path to upgrade it.

New problems: (one) the hot end is loose in the ALU extruder and slides up and down about 2 mm on retract/re-extrude. (two) the new firmware has changed motor directions. The extruder is going backwards BUT I can’t flip the plug it’s keyed with ears and offset. Apparently they don’t key them anymore.

Just invert the stepper direction in firmware. What firmware are you running?

For the loose hot end you can shim it to fit.

@Eclsnowman Using Marlin and sort of teensylu (for printrboard). On compile in 1.0.5 I get errors using the usbtinyisp-teensylu/printrbot setting but fine as teensylu2++. Getting dumb errors like Arduino.h not found. Going to have to give up for weekend, Have a lot of other things to take care of.

Ah the life of a printer…

Ya got it going enought to find the ALU extruder gets too hot with current motor. Waiting on new motors now.
