As an alternative for the “tape & hair spray” challenged, workable fixative makes any build surface very receptive for both PLA and ABS. Make DIY tape using freezer paper or poly(ethylene) coated Kraft paper with “re-positionable” spray adhesive. Both will clean up with isopropanol - faster with acetone. The caveat with workable fixative is the acetone/toluene solvents (amongst others) making ventilation absolutely necessary. Loctite makes a good light weight spray adhesive and Prismacolor a workable fixative. The technique is worth experimenting with - your results may vary!
