Awesome, 5 axis 3D Printer

More (than 3) axis printers were seen also on Formnext this fall at Frankfurt as ready to sell production machines.

Thank you . Very impressive machine that could become the new standard printer .

Pretty cool. Although I wonder why the part isn’t rotated instead of having the head go around the part. The part could rotate continuously, where as it seems the head only goes once around and then goes the other way, partially creating an internal vertical seam.

It’s not hard to build 5-axis printer hardware, but there’s no generalized slicing solution available. Slicing algorithms are the hard part here. There are BIG software issues with collision avoidance and path routing. 5-axis mill CAM software is a seriously high-dollar product with a lot of complexity and user training required.

All these 5-axis printing demos you see are either using hand-written gcode or custom-coded slicing scripts that only work for one application.

Layerless? It is still printing in layers so that is an incorrect statement.

I wondered what happened to this crowdfund, it seemed like they went silent. Yeah, machines are pretty simple relative to the complexity of slicing. A cylinder with axial and radial layers barely shows any benefits of using this kind of machine.

GRANDE EMPRESA GRANDE NEGOCIO.
