Aww yis. Gave the the very first FB2020 some love last night did a little maintenance it’s been needing on the Z Axis and fitted it with an ally bed and mains silicone heater last night… 12v hot end, mains bed, heat up times +++++++
What @David_Sherwood said. Also, high bed heater power can put banding in your prints as the bed flexes under thermal stress when the heater kicks on and off.
@David_Sherwood - 200w 240v into a 220x220 5mm thick Ally plate. Fully aware of the implications and all safety checks are taken including auto power off should anything go awry. Admittedly, I’ve bought one of these heaters previously for another of the FB2020s and that’s got a thinner bed, I need to double check this, but it’s a bit slower.
200w on 220x220 is pretty reasonable. I wouldn’t go much higher, but that’s not a scary number.
The numbers suggest it’s 0.41W/cm^2 but that seems low for how quickly it heats up. 0.5W/cm^2 is often considered pretty adequate, so it doesn’t seem like your system is excessive. It might be worth doing a meter check to see if the rated wattage is correct.
@Jeff_DeMaagd - it’s 200w at 220v, the UK mains supply is actually 240v, hence it being that slight bit quicker. Effectively it’s running at 230w.
