Back to School !

it’s the time of the year to 3D print text, and I spent some time on the choice of the best font for it. The characters need to be linked, bold enough to be printed in small size.

My favourite so far is Cursive bold and pharmount available from http://dafont.com
http://www.dafont.com/cursive-standard.font
http://www.dafont.com/pharmount.font

This is for my grand child (3 yo), to make a game called “build sentences” to tell stories. (“Faire des phrases” in French). The approach is to used words and not letters wich will be too fastidious for a first contact. (a second stage could bring in grammar with the help of some colors)

The word will be mounted on magnetic tape (Ebay).

Some other design fonts could also make nice magnet ;-))

What software do you use to make the text models?

simply Sketchup, type your text, choose size and height, export stl and so on, easy easy ;-)) , ideally make a rectangle at the hot bed size for print area, if you print with abs get the gloss by printing up side down.
(don’t forgot to work x10 the final size and then reduce in the slicer as Sketchup don’t like too small triangles).
Cura will get rid of the internal face for you. (letters overlap) so you don’t need to bother.

That is all good to know, thank you.

You forgot… “Le croissant avec le fromage c’est trés jollie” :stuck_out_tongue:
