Basile Laderchi here is my full size R2-D2.

@Basile_Laderchi here is my full size R2-D2. All the detail parts are 3d printed. My 3 year old “Lucas” next to R2 for scale. Second pic is a few of the parts that are printed for it. There are a ton of detail parts on these things

That is awesome, will you be making the files publically available?

Commenting so I can find the files if they are posted.

Looks great!

If you are interested in building you very own R2D2, head over to Astromech.net
You will find tons of information, loads of great people, and yes, all the files that are currently available. My name on the forum is “Monkyman”. You will find a ton of posts and threads of mine in the 3d printing section.
Beware: building a full size R2D2 is not cheap and takes hundreds, if not thousands of hours. Bank accounts and marriages have been ruined while building these. I wish that were a joke…
Average budget cost $1,500-$3,000, average high end cost $10,000. Time to complete is usually 2-8 years.
You have been warned. Lol.

Andrew, can you please email me at 3dprintdotcom@gmail.com?

will do @Eddie_Krassenstein

Great work, wonder if you printed all parts on a hobby level 3Dprinter ?

yes I did @Brian_Johansen . I printed them all on my Solidoodle 3. Highly modified of course  I have some great methods for getting an automotive finish on printed parts, regardless of how smooth they were printed. And I don’t use any acetone to do it

Well, now you got me curious. Where can i learn about your Automotive finish method?

I tried to download the files to print, but it requires approval

I should have stated @David_Gonzalez that you need to just submit for membership and you will be approved. We had to set it up that way because of our clubs involvement with Lucasfilm. Copy writes and such. That means these files and all the data of the group is not to be reposted or rehosted anywhere outside the group. Keeps us all out of court. Plus no printing and selling the parts without approval from the LucasFilm/Disney council. That took me a year to do

@Brian_Johansen if you go to the 3d printing section of the forum, there is a thread that covers it. I can create a more up to date post on this G+ page too. I’ll try and do that tonight if I can

@Andrew_Radovich_BadW the result is stunning! Awesome!

@Dan_Spooner that would be great. Feel free to email me. Jedigt@gmail. com

Time we’ll spent! Your son dig’s R2 also.

@Brian_Johansen the writ up on painting is posted on here in the guide section

Waaaaaaaaahhhhh epic!

@David_Gonzalez did you get an Astromech.net account? If you got that far I can hook you up. Just let me know and I’ll help you out. Email me if you like. "Jedigt@gmail.com"
