@Jason_Kridner I think I have over $1200 in it, but wasted a lot through trial and error… er… R&D. I have no idea how much time I put into it, but I worked on it over a few months nights and weekends. I think I can duplicate it for about $400 now, but I would need to do a PCB spin for the cape and driver board to clean up the fixes to the first pass electronics.

Nice job ! On SW side, what librairies did you use ? I was also looking for some code to display text like you do so that would help me.
@jocelyn_kevorkian I used C#.NET/Mono to get all the WCF stuff for setting up a custom web server / web app. JQueryUI was used for the web app GUI. As for the animations themselves I adapted the code from the LED cube project on Instructables and a Commodore 64 font to generate the text. As for all the wire level communications code and BB/PRU firmware, it’s all custom.
