been playing in solidworks today 
Soildworks is my friend. Do you have the free HSMxpress plugin go g- code output?
No not yet no use for g-code yet just trying to learn the ins and outs of Solidworks for now
SolidWorks has pretty decent tutorials in the help file. i know a few people that have used them to get a good starting point. most of what i know I’ve found out by trying thing. if you have any SolidWorks questions feel free to ask I’ve been using it for almost 10 years now… I’m almost what you would call a “guru” lol not quite but i can handle most of its quirks. 
That’s exactly how I use it too until I can’t figure something out then I look online
