Been working on the delta again. After @Alex_Skoruppa convinced me to hang the spools, I figured it best to use the space that I have with the mid braces. Think I have the spool holders nearly figured out. These are simple slip in and out. I’ll do one more iteration to get them stronger and adjustable. Very excited for dual extrusion on this one!
Looks great @Griffin_Paquette . I like the braces idea, should make the structure stronger.
Nice way of hanging the spools, yes. Looks like a nice and sturdy frame as well. What are you going to use as a dual nozzle?
@Lykle_Schepers it will be an E3D V6 with a y splitter.
Are you planning on doing a flying extruder or a more traditional bowden mounted to the frame?
It will be traditional. Due to the size I want to keep the moving mass as low as possible. Even though the extruders won’t stress the printer too much in a flying configuration, i think I’m still better off leaving them fixed.
Have a look at the Zesty Nimble, best combination of Bowden and Direct drive without the disadvantages. (full disclosure, I designed the thing)
Ah, Y splitter, nice idea, that negates the use of the Nimble.
Was looking at making a compact version of a splitter, but have my doubts about practicality. so I will certainly be following this.
I’m still a bit undecided with my spool holder at the moment. Can’t decide the best way to do it
Going to plonk a roller on top for the time being.
