Before and after. Seems ok to do ^^
Went on a little tour…
a win for 3d printing
how would you compare them to those you would buy for 6 euros?
@Tom_Keidar They dont grip as much as the originals (which are rubber btw, only the wheels are TPU). But they dont seem to wear out that fast or similarly. I would say yes this is a win for 3D Printing
Edit: Depending on how much you infill (well the sole should be 100% afterall) this costs about 4€ with electricity. Well… But fun to do ;D
i’m guessing the fact that they don’t wear out as fast and don’t break/grip as hard are due to the same “slippery” property of the filament. very interesting… would you say at 100% infill (or less) it could be good for gears?
@Tom_Keidar well no its rather hard but no
@Tom_Keidar use nylon for gears. Thats perfect and not as hard to print as some may say. I use pertiprint from filafarm (german) which is just pertinax or garolite or phenolic paper (hardpaper pcb) for printbed
yeah, i know nylon (and other materials with similar qualities) is perfect for gears, but taulman’s is absurdly expensive here, and all other nylons i can get for a fair price are relatively toxic. since i share my work room with my kids and wife, that can’t happen for now.
i’ve had really great success with a chinese (createbot and winbo) tpe that prints pretty well and at a low infill is great for wheels and the likes, and with a high infill is pretty great for gears with a diameter > 20mm.
they have all worked pretty well so far with no visible wear/tear and are extremely quiet.
@Tom_Keidar tryed 3D Prima Nylon? Its rather cheap. Yes I want taulman 910 myself but its 53€ for 480g or so lol
@Aric_Norine that it is… i have some gears and bearings printed in that stuff, i see no visible wear even ~7-8 months of hard usage.
@VolksTrieb i wish… they have very reasonable prices and a great selection of materials, but only ship freely in the EU… everywhere else (including israel) they ship with fedex and dhl, and those cost an arm and a leg and a headache. it’s the same as with the stuff on amazon. i’m like the poor kid, standing at the window of toys’r’us dreaming of his new xbox, i can only browse and envy your prices and selection
i’m mostly fine material wise - there’s a lot of really good quality stuff you can source from china. but nylon specifically has been a really hard-to-come-by material for me (wayyyyy overpriced here, and i cannot source any of the good/nontoxic stuff from china), so i’ve been testing other materials instead…
