Blue Painters Tape vs. Glue etc.

Blue Painters Tape vs. Glue etc. for the build plate on a MakerBot Rep 2 using PLA?

Watered down PVA glue has worked the best for me so far.

how does that work with removal with large prints ?

Do you have a heated bed?

Non heated bed

Your mileage may vary, but for me the only thing that worked on a cold bed was Blue Tape + rubbing on some alcohol.

So far that is all I have used and I wipe it down between prints with a fiber towel

@Jerry_LePore make sure thema bed is cooled down, then pop it off with a knife.

One thing to consider for the argument is that the pva/water mixture or glue stick is water soluble so you could pull the plate and run it under water to help loosen the print. This will help since you don’t have the advantage of running the print on a heated bed and then letting it cool.

My experience with blue/green tape has shown it is great for low bottom surface area prints and a wrestling match for larger prints. After I broke the glass plate trying to remove a print, I switched to glue full time.

Glue stick as in Elmer’s or other school glue sticks? I also have a heatless bed that occasionally sticks. Still using the blue contact paper that came with the printers.
