Brand new to the idea of RepRaps.

Brand new to the idea of RepRaps. I’d like to build one, but not necessarily to print. Mostly I want to learn electronics, programming, and CAD.

As a part of that journey, I was thinking of building my own arduino. Knowing nothing about electronics, boarduino seems like a possible choice, but I was wondering if I could actually expect it to enter my finished printer.

I’m a little confused because it seems like there are kits for sanguinololus and RAMPS, but they don’t use breadboards. Should that bother me? Is that even the question I should be asking?

Just wanted to see if anybody could help steer me in the right direction. I’d like to start building something right away while I’m looking at all the different RepRap model choices.

I found this video while researching. Seemed interesting so I thought I would share.

It looks like that project is an ultra low tech version and it sounds like there might actually be a relay driving the stepper motor. The RAMPS boards and stuff like that often include ultra optimized setups for the stepper motor control for a printer.

@NathanielStenzel The sound you hear could be coming from the piezo speaker. At least that’s the impression I get from the video description.
