Broke a few pinion and spur gears printed in ABS,

Broke a few pinion and spur gears printed in ABS, I had no problem changing the pinion to nylon, the spur gear on the otherhand was too flexible in nylon, so I combined the two. I’ve run about 5 lipo packs through it, still holding. (gear is connected to hsp diff)

@Emile_Wim That´s a cool idea!

That’s a cool idea AND a very pretty gear. Well done.

Hi Emile, this is a great Idea. I have just started working with Nylon and have some issues getting it to print right. The details are simply not fine enough - teeth are smaller and more rounded compared to my ABS prints - I’m using a Rep2X. I’m playing around with Makerware and S3D Creator at the moment and try to figure out what to adjust to get it to work properly. If you have any suggestions which area to look at in particular I would be grateful.

I didn’t have to change much when switching from ABS to Nylon, I just added some more retraction and higher nozzle temp. And of course a bed that nylon sticks to. The only thing I can think of the slicer, it plays a large role in getting gears to print correctly. The small diff gears I never could get good prints when using slic3r, kisslicer did a much better job.

Thanks. Have given up on s3d for now and testing makerware now with a custom profile.

woo. posty the stl!
