Can a cable chain be made to work in 2 axes? It would be nice to pin one end in that corner and have it handle both the X and Z motion.
On a side note, I need a bigger chain - I gotta run 5+ cat5’s thru it 
I’ve used cable chain in that manner before on other projects. So long as you have the geometry correct it should work.
Make sure you have enough chain to reach max x and max z without stretching, min x and min z without binding/crushing, and finally that both axes are in the same plane. …then you should be good.
