I had also tried the compact boden extruder on thinkiverse and it was unable to drive filament through the E3D (genuine) hotend. I can grab and stop the gear (about 1/2 diameter) on the stepper, which seems like a very low torque. I tried the stepper on the X axis and the wiring and stepper seem ok, but of course the extruder is a much slower step rate.
I’m wondering if the drive electronics could somehow be weak? The current for X,Y,Z and E are all set to 1.5A so there’s plenty of current.
Any suggestions? The motor is undersized for the extruder, so I’m replacing it, but in the meanwhile being able to spin the gearing seems like a no brainer task for even an undersized motor.
