can i ask if anyone is successful in controlling sk6812 using esp? i have a thesis which has two stations and 1 ap. It is a shotclock for basketball. My problem was it causes delay when i press the button, the 7 segment display respond by 3 sec or 2 sec or 1? and sometimes no receieved string data from the controller which has the 1 esp. Is the esp to esp communication is not stable? can i ask for insights so i can prove to my panel in my thesis defense that there is deyed in transmission and transmission losses? Big thanks!
I’ve been able to control around 320 SK6812 LEDs with a Wemos D1 Mini with no issues.
@Brian_Lewis sir i’m using esp 11 wifi shield, does power supply is the issue? my setup is that the wifi shield is on top of arduino then the power supply i’m using is 2A output powerbank using the port of the arduino connected to the powerbank. Then also i’m using the GND and 5v pin of the arduino+wifi shield to power the 56 sk6812 led strip with red color only at 250 brightness.
can i also ask for checking my codes sir?
here’s the link

I don’t see anything specifically that is jumping out. I haven’t done much with board to board communication so I can’t say for sure if that code is correct or not. I would maybe recommend lowering the time on your delays as that can cause problems with communication since it completely halts the code on the board during the delay and can be compounding the delay you are visually seeing.
@Brian_Lewis how did you get your SK6812 leds to work on the Wemos? I have been trying to get mine to run a simple red dot chase and the white LED is throwing everything off.
@Richard_Burna_II My sk6812 LEDs are RGB. If yours are RGBW you can try Adafruits neopixel library.
@Brian_Lewis Yea mine are RGBW and the Adafruit neopixel library has issues with them as well.
Thank you sir @Brian_Lewis
@Richard_Burna_II , FastLED doesn’t support RGBW LEDs yet.
