Can I use the normal Pronterface with a delta bot? Is all the “magic” of translation in the firmware flashed to the control board?

Exactly. Both the slicer and the host (pronterface) know nothing about your printer’s mechanics and just deal with XYZE gcode.

I’d be surprised if it didn’t work…

It works! I use it on my deltas.
