Can we see a printed on a Makerbot?

Can we see a #3DBenchy printed on a Makerbot? Just to see how awful it is? :smiling_imp:

Well the 5th gen printers have serious quality issues…

If I can get either of the Z18 at work to work I’ll give it a try.

lol thanks

You can buy a $3,000 printer that works 30% of the time, or a $500 Printrbot that works 99% of the time (clogged nozzle quickly fixed with a lighter!)

Heh. I’ve seen print farms with tons of Makerbot 5th-gen printers, but I’m thinking that they will regret it very very soon

I have a $550 makerbot dual extruder knockoff and it works great

@Nathan_Walkner did the uni buy 53 so they would have enough parts to keep one running?
If you print a 3D Benchy on a Makerbot won’t they try to patent it?

The prints I’ve seen come out of the gen5 printer they have at different team at the school I work at, are not bad at all. Those were the first two test prints of course, but they looked good.
One of them was a tiny chain which looked pretty hard to print well.

Anyway, I’m building my team a mendel90

I did have airprint issues with my knockoff especially on specialty filaments. I ended up adding a screw to adjust the spring pressure on the filament and the problems went away.

I was getting something like a pinch off and I noticed it went away when I added some preload to the springs.
