Carriage for a CNC laser.
Nice, it’s a i7 cooler right ? Where did you get the metal bracket ?
Its actually a heatsink for an Intel 775 socket.
Aha, ok nice. Does it snap on the LM8UU:s ?
I was about to say nice use of a stock intel cooler! Must have 5 of those in my spares box. Interesting thing is now that should be compatible with almost any 775 cooler
hi Wayne, may you explain how to realize a such laser CNC ? what kind of laser diod?
i would want to kown too
@Liam_Jackson Yep i would say most any 775 socket cooler. This looks a little bit different as i removed the plastic twist lock fittings.
@Dario_Marrini This is a 2W blue laser in a 12mm copper heatsink in a CPU heatsink. I found it hear. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HFHJBDI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
@Fredrik_Markstrom It doesn’t actually snap on, i have made rectangle holes for zip ties.
I can post the rest of the CNC as it is now, in an unfinished state but you could get the idea from it. It would have to be in a new thread unless someone knows how to add pictures to an existing thread.
How hot will the heatsink get? Any concern about softening our warping the plastic part?
I dought it really need this much heat sink if you look at what is suggested. I didn’t want to spend $15 to ship a $4 part. I only used this as this is what i had. The weight i think will be more of a factor thay any heat it will see.
I added some pictures of this laser project.
