How to keep your steppers and cold part of the hot-end cool?

Is this heated or just an enclosure?

@Marcus_Wolschon The hot end has a heat sink with fan that keeps it the proper temp even in an enclosed chamber.

@Mike_Kelly_Mike_Make This is an enclosure, BUT my heat source is my very large heated bed. This keeps the temps in the chamber elevated. If you do not have a heated bed, you may be able to put a small resistive element in your chamber to generate the required heat.

@Chris_Chimienti
It can’t keep it below the ambiant temperature (thermodynamics see to that) and that does nothing for the stepper motors.

@Marcus_Wolschon Absolutely Marcus, ambient is the lowest it can go. I measured ambient temps in my enclosure at 30 - 40 degrees C … It has not negatively affected the performance of my steppers or hot end.

I don’t think the difference of 23°C room temperature to 30°C in the enclosure is enough to make any difference in warping at all.

I’ve seen positive results. Room temperature in my house is 19-20C and inside the chamber is 30 - 40. Minimum of 10 degrees ambient gain to max 20. It’s made a difference for my prints. I can easily take it a step further and put a small heating element inside and probably boost it to 45 but so far I haven’t needed it. A big bonus is keeping out cold drafts.
