check out this super neat way of auto leveling using accelerometers.
it’s a completely solid state solution that seems to have solved the problems with both FSR and inductive sensors.
will be interesting to see what the accuracy is like.

Worth the look
ok lets see it working, very Interesting.
This isn’t new. DeltaMaker tried using this 3 years ago, and it just wasn’t accurate enough. In fact, it’s exactly the same 3 axis accelerometer that we still put on the DeltaMakers.
I thought about this as well, but the issue is that there would need to be at least 2 high precision accels, one for the bed and one for the nozzle. Then one would need to calibrate them after manually leveling…and take into account thermal expansion (some accels have a thermocouple built in that is supposed to calibrate for this automatically, but they tend to be more expensive).
@ThantiK good to know i believe the MD3 micro runs this style system also. will be interesting to see how the new
SeeMeCNC machine goes.
@william_foster this system uses the opamp and one-shot though, which may make all the difference in the world. Just because it’s been tried, doesn’t mean not to try it again your way.
