Cleaned the feed tube , shaves a little off the hole.for the zendrive wheel and im back to printing. Im scared tho the hot end is making this crazy poping noises during the prints. Whats the deal @Makible , any clues for me? Dosnt seem to affect the print but sure is scary. #makible #makibox #scaredasbleep
Could be moisture in the filament popping. Can you see any tinny exploded holes in the prints?
Now that you mention it there are very very tiny bubbles and it’s only oops when it is extruding
PLA? quite possibly damp filiment.
Abs
You could dry it out in the oven. 60C for 1/2 hr or so
Looks like its gonna have to wait. The 5d print software has some bugs and about tore my printer apart. The screws and support poles came out the sockets and the plastic sub assembly came apart in one corner. #annoyed
First, to take the stress off, watch this PSA about the dangers of vertical videos, then ping @Matthias_Lewen-Riege or @Makible to see if they can help.
As others have said, you probably have damp filament and the popping is the water ‘boiling’ as you extrude. A short bake in the oven might help, did the filament come with desiccant? ABS can make popping sounds too, the temp might be too high. Can you get some good high res shots of the object and the fill pattern? That would help.
Kenneth for my personal experience, try to slice same cube or other item reducing HE temperature of 1 or 2 point
From my experience, that’s indeed because the filament has absorbed too much moisture.
I had the same thing happen to me, after I let the filament sit out in the open for a few weeks.
After the first few layers from the “moist” spool, it stopped popping again.
I plan on going back to the sub assembly and tapping the tabs together with a rubber mallet. Then I’m going to switch from 5d print (it’s just not ready for Showtime) to something less buggy. Then im going to shave a little bit more off the plastic Zen drive assembly.
Take a look at OctoPrint (shameless plug) out prontrface
I keep hearing about that. I think illlook onto, repeteir (spelled wrong) and this Octoprint… Once I’m back in print condition
