Cleared my desk ....

Cleared my desk … set about installing my new E3D hotend on my Mendel 90. Got it all together only to find the thermistor was open circuit :frowning: . No source nearby to get one tonight. Will have to hunt one down tomorrow. Anyone in the North York area of Ontario with a spare ?

Can’t you pull the one out of your old HE ?

@Tim_Rastall With my luck and SAE sized fingers I won’t tempt fate ! Having the old J Mk V as a spare seems like a good idea right now. I suspect that it broke off right at the element. These hands are better suited to the hotend of a big block Chevy !

@Tim_Rastall Exactly how would I get it out ? Appears to be cemented in with fire cement.

Worse than I thought ! A single strand of the heater connection touched the thermistor input and damaged the input on the Melzi ! With no control … it melted the J head MK 5. Ordering a new Melzi from @nop_head but for now I am completely down :frowning:

Oh noes!

@Tim_Rastall The open circuit thermistor on the E3d was caused by the short ! Thought to tin the leads but didn’t … should have … would have prevented this ! The ferrules I have wouldn’t fit the terminal block on the extruder breakout board. Up side is I won’t make that mistake again !
