Community: As far as links on the “About this community” bar go - any suggestions? Additions? Deletions? How would you guys feel about us using some sort of tracker to determine how many clicks this page sends to those links?

The tracker would sort of be cool - see how popular a site becomes (/is) - but I’m okay with status quot.

I think a link to @Thomas_Sanladerer 's Youtube page would be nice. It has several of good intro videos about setup of printers and such. I know he could add it as well. But really it would answer tuns of questions.

Turns out, there’s actually a limit on links, and we’re at it! I removed bld3r’s link to add @Thomas_Sanladerer 's youtube page. He deserves it, and is very active in helping people here.

Thinking of maybe making a google doc, like Thomas did, and adding the beginners guide, reprap calculator, etc to it under 1 link.

Perhaps a “recommended vendor” link with E3D, Ultimachine and those we all respect found there. @Thomas_Sanladerer youtube link ! he does deserve it.

I think @Printrbot / @Brook_Drumm should be added to recommended vendors as well.

@Henry_Wooldridge I personally think that all vendors of printers should be taken off of the community, as well as any parts sellers, but i am not going to complain too much. I think it should be information and sources for things that your printer needs, not where to get one.

Again i am not complaining about what is up there, but i don’t think that there should be more advertisements for companies.

@Camerin_hahn , the companies up there currently, basically sell parts for all printers and have been trusted in the community for quite some time (I mean the larger open source 3d printer community), we don’t really put any printer vendors up there. I would like to move vendors/printer manufacturers into a separate linked document though, and add printers as people recommend them for certain price ranges; would this be acceptable?

@ThantiK That would be fair but how much more work is that for you and other maintainers. As this is a popular list/group I imagine the requests to be on that doc could be overwhelming.

@William_Frick , likely if anyone wanted to add something I’d just add them to the document and let them do it. Eventually someone would come along and maintain it as they saw fit. If it ever got screwed up, I’m pretty sure someone would mention something.

Thanks for putting me up there!
A document with open-source, “recommended” vendors would be nice, but i wouldn’t be to liberal about allowing everyone to edit it.
And while the current links are probably pretty ok, i don’t think they’re getting too much attention anyways.
