Completely forgot to check on my 13 hr print while it work
Whatās your reliability like on the Prusa?
Pretty good, a bit lower since upgrading to the MMU but itās a very experimental feature and Prusa seems to have the most reliable version with the custom heat break from E3D. Only issue I really have is that the left side drops a few mm when I turn the printer off. I have to move the carriage to the top of the printer whenever I turn it back on to re-level the X axis. Other than that itās extremely reliable. The quality of the prints are really the selling factor for this machine though, Iād say its on par with the Ultimaker 3.
Nice
Better than my average failure, where it builds up on the head and creates a huge blob which is impossible to get off cold
Looks like the curse of the green ABS to me⦠Seriously now, what are you printing in?
Looks good, but you might want to reduce print speed a little for greater details on your birds nest.
Worldās first 3d printed fright wig.
That sucks. Been there, done that.
@Duncan_Gunn PLA. Been having a bit of issues with this brand with the multi material setup, mostly with small stringing. Iād have switched by now if I wasnāt getting the filament for $15 per kg.
looks like a jungle
@Kevin ā
Reminds me of āThe Integral Treesā, by Larry Nivin.
Add a few cliffs and hanging bridges and behold.
Stick that nest back on the portion of the guy that printed and title it ā3D printing blows my mind!ā Turn it into art.
Looks like an explosive decompression simulation to me. Did that early on in my 3D printing experience with a small print of the Death Star. Ironically appropriate.
@Adam_Steinmark I had a lot of trouble with PLA of the exact same colour, literally. To be fair, most of my problems were caused by my having a rubbish hotend that I replaced with an E3D V6. Did a part become detached or did your extruder temporarily stop?
@Duncan_Gunn I wasnāt home to watch it, but what I believe happened is a blob formed on the end of the filament which prevented it from being inserted. Then when it cycled back to the light green filament there was enough momentum from it moving after retracting above the Y splitter to force it through. Itās happened a few times, sometimes it skips steps then works fine. I think a big part is the friction and moment forces on the filament due to the multi material upgrade. Iāve been meaning to add a feed tube all the way from the spool holder to the extruder to help keep the feed more consistent and ensure more even flow. Iāll probably just replace all the bowden tubing with Capricorn tubing.
Do you manufacture Brillo pads on the side?
Looks like your St. Patrickās Day wig is completed though.
How did this post end up with more activity then my post sharing my original printer design?
@Adam_Steinmark I think itās because we can all relate. All of us have felt the pain of getting to our printer and realize it has been printing in mid air for the past 6 hours. missing/deleted image from Google+
