Configuration for CNC 3020

Hi, I just purchased the smoothieboard 5x, which is cool. I was thinking about building something like this but glad I found it. Anyway, I have a cnc 3020 and would like to configure the smoothie board for it. Here are some links for the settings for the cnc:

I might end up just diving in and playing around with the config to figure it out, but I thought I might ask while I’m waiting on a computer part for the computer that’s driving this. Also, help out those that are looking for this info.

Thanks

Hi !

I have a 6040, it was trivially simple to setup.

Will you be using external drivers or Smoothie’s on-board drivers ? I’m not sure what the current rating for the steppers on that machine is.

Cheers.

Yeah, I’m thinking it is easy but the smoothie uses different lingo so not 100% sure. Since I have time I thought I’d just ask. As for driving the motors, I was going to see if the smoothie can handle it. The whitequark’s page that I linked has a post on there somewhere that talks about the amps and the axis motors run at 5 amps and the spindle at 2amp?
