Connecting 15W Laser diode to Smoothieboard v2

I bought this the laser cutter (32827556882 on Aliexpress) and it broke within a few weeks, firmware crumbled, and the seller is not willing to give me the HEX file.

So i read about the smmothieboard and decided to give it a try. But now, I need advice on connecting my Laser diode to my smoothieboard, the laser has 3 wires, GND, +12 and PWM (thin wire). Every time I look for a how-to, I get: The PWM to whatever PWM pin on the board to the IN on the PSU and the GND to GND on PSU. My laser does not have a dedicated PSU with such inputs, it got its power from the old board (GND, +12 and PWM all connected). My question is, how do I connect this type of set-up to Smoothieboard, is it even possible?

I am really sorry for this (probably quite stupid) questions but I have looked through the forum and googled away with no luck - I am not an electrical engineer.

What do you mean “Smoothieboard v2” ???

Sorry. V1 4X - thought is was V2

The PWM on the smoothieboard ( any PWM-capable pin as per the guide and smoothieware.org/pinout ) to the PWM input on the diode driver, very simply.

…and both of the power cables to the 12v (+ and -) PSU i assume. I tried that already, that resulted in the laser just burning a hole in my protective floor-cover. but at least I did it right in theory then. I’ll try some of the other PWM pins available from the config file then.

Thank you.

If anyone ever finds this with a similar problem. It was firmware/software related, after i updated the firmware, downloaded and re-setup the config file. Everything worked. Hurra!
